The main difference between these scanners is the scanning speed and connectivity. The IX1600's scanning speed has been increased compared to the Scansnap IX1500. It's great to see that you can scan around 80 pages per minute in duplex mode. And 40 pages can be loaded instead of 30 as in the IX1500. In terms of connectivity, this should be even more impressive. With the speed of the 5Ghz wifi, transfers should be done in no time. It also has a USB 3.2 port. It's really great to know that as soon as the paper comes out of the scanner, it's gone. Another add-on to the IX1600 is the streak correction feature. This is really good to have, but you still have to clean the scanner from time to time. Not that often, though, to be precise. I replaced my old IX500 which is already seven years old. I haven't had the slightest trouble in seven years.
