Yes, that works. I've never had any problems with it so far. I have 1 PS5, 1 Apple TV and a Switch2 connected via the box and as soon as I switch back and forth between them, the mode always adjusts between gaming and cinema. Every now and then my box has a bit of trouble between switching from Apple TV to Switch, then once off and on again and everything is fine. Funnily enough, the PS5 is never a problem.

Yes, it is possible to pass the HDMI signal through an audio amplifier before connecting it to the Play Sync Box Generation 2, provided that the amplifier has compatible HDMI inputs and outputs. The HDMI signal must be transmitted from the source (console or PC) to the amplifier, then from the amplifier to the Sync Box via an HDMI 2.1 cable to ensure compatibility with high resolutions and frequencies (up to 8K 60Hz or 4K 120Hz). To do this, connect the HDMI output of your console or PC to the HDMI input of the audio amplifier, then connect the HDMI output of the amplifier to the HDMI input of the Sync Box. Finally, connect the HDMI output of the Sync Box to your TV. Make sure you use HDMI 2.1 Ultra High Speed cables to maintain signal quality and synchronisation of the Philips Hue lights.

You will probably have to link several Philips Hue Gradient Ambiance bases together, which is no problem. The only thing is that the luminosity decreases the longer the strip is. As far as I know, the longest they have in one piece is for 75 inch TVs and this one is around 3 metres long.
