To use the Philips Hue GU10 Smart Spotlight, all you need is a suitable socket. A transformer or power supply unit is not required as the lamp is screwed directly into the existing socket. Special mounting rings are available for fixing in the hole to hold the light. However, these are not supplied with the lamp as standard and may need to be purchased separately.

You can use any 12 volt transformer that is suitable for LEDs. Please make sure that this is not dimmable and is 40% more powerful than the light source. As you have a separate one for each light source, you can use a 10 watt transformer.

Yes, it is possible to dim non-dimmable lamps with Philips Hue light bulbs. The Philips Hue White & Colour Ambiance GU10 bulbs can be controlled via the Hue app or a compatible dimmer switch12. This means that you can adjust the brightness of the lamps, even if the original lamps are not labelled as dimmable.

The energy efficiency of the Philips Hue White & Colour Ambiance (GU5.3, 6.30 W, 400 lm, 2 x, G) with a "G" rating seems counterintuitive for an LED light source that is normally very energy efficient. Here are some possible reasons: - EU energy efficiency labelling: EU energy efficiency labels are based on specific criteria and tests that take into account not only the efficiency of the light source itself, but also other factors such as overall system efficiency and compatibility with various devices. It is possible that the "G" rating is due to these broader criteria, rather than just the efficiency of the LED chip itself. - System requirements: Philips Hue bulbs often require a connection to the Hue Bridge or other devices, which can mean additional energy consumption. These system requirements could be factored into the overall energy efficiency rating. - Specific test conditions: The EU energy efficiency labels are awarded under standardised test conditions. It could be that the specific test conditions under which the light source was tested resulted in a lower rating. It is important to note that LED light sources are generally very energy efficient, but the EU rating systems may take into account more complex factors that result in a lower rating. For precise information, I recommend consulting the manufacturer's official documentation or the EU directives on energy efficiency.

We also have several in use and we had to have the light switches converted in each case. The Hue spots need permanent power (they have to send a signal to the bridge) and we could only do this by removing or bridging the classic light switches. It will be the same with the dimmer switches. You don't dim the spots with more or less current, but the spots dim themselves (through the app, Philips Hue switch, etc.). However, in my opinion/as far as I know, the power supply to the spots must be constant.

Hi - I did a quick search at Phillips, and they do mention that they are dimmable, but that refers to dimming via Bluetooth rather than dimming via dimmer and switch. I guess you set them to maximum and dim them via the app/Bluetooth - and effectively test when there is no longer enough power for them to function properly. Alternatively, ask the customer service: https://helpcenter.digitec.ch/hc/de/requests/new LG

I use them outdoors for a covered seating area and I'm not worried about that. Never read about outdoor and indoor applications.

Unfortunately, I cannot say exactly how the prices for individual items, but also set items, are made up. The price is basically made up of various factors, such as availability, demand, margin, etc. Unfortunately, it is not possible to give a more precise indication of pricing and development.
