We have received feedback in the past reporting the same problem, but not with this model. Good evening, the Pet-Safe from Staywell fits into the existing opening of the old Pet-Safe flaps. Had the first Staywell flap installed over 25 years ago and upgraded to the latest version with microchip reader a year ago. The installation was no problem, everything fitted perfectly.
