The developed CC4 grinding stone differs from the standard model in that both sides are made of a ceramic stone. Instead of a coarse diamond plate as in the standard model, the CC4 has an enormously fine ceramic side with 0.1 micron for fine honing - this corresponds approximately to a Japanese waterstone with a 30'000 grit or, according to western grit, approximately 15'000. The finish is really very fine and when the blade is honed after sharpening on the white side, it starts to mirror the surface of the leather. But the blade still remains biting and cuts even fibrous materials very well. If you know the Spyderco Ultrafine Rods (see similar articles), you will notice similarities in the finish of the CC4. The black side remains unchanged and still corresponds to a 600 grit size. The dimensions of the CC4 stone are exactly the same as the old DC4 model. Tip from Yonc: If the white side is clogged by steel abrasion, you can simply clean it with a standard eraser.
