One side of the sharpener is coated with a 600-grit diamond coating (25 microns), while the other side is made of a ceramic stone. These very hard materials ensure that even very hard steels can be processed effectively. The stone can be used dry on both sides (without water or oils). Occasionally, it may be necessary to clean the sharpening stone with warm water and a bit of dish soap.
