In heated living spaces, the humidity should not exceed 60 percent, while in bathrooms, the relative humidity can often reach 70 percent or more.
The optimal humidity for a healthy indoor climate is 50 percent. Values above this can promote mold growth and potentially harm health. Mold spores spread in the indoor air, enter the respiratory system, and can lead to allergies in the worst case. Breathing also affects the humidity in the living space, as exhalation continuously releases moisture into the room.
