It depends a bit on what you want to do with it. If you want to make something that is already greasy / oily, you don't need any additional oil (e.g. chicken wings) and in my opinion they taste just as good as those fried in oil. If you want to make French fries, you can marinate the potatoes with oil to make them a little crispy, or buy fries that are meant for oven fries, which are already a little oily when they come out of the package. However, it has to be said that the Airfryer doesn't work super well with classic fries. The fries turn out better than oven fries but never come close to properly fried fries. What works great, however, are slightly larger fries or potato slices that you marinate with olive oil and thyme, for example. I don't think it's possible/recommended to fry something completely in oil. We often use the Airfryer like a small oven, but it's faster and doesn't dry out as much. You can also cook a piece of meat in it, but it stays very tender. In general, the Airfryer is very easy to regulate and is very versatile and often quicker and more practical than frying, baking or deep-frying in a pan. It is also relatively easy to clean

Hi, I've had the Airfryer for a while and have never put oil in it. It works great without and gets really crispy. I would buy it again immediately.
