The double-jointed needle bit features solid stainless steel discs and a mouthpiece made of sweet iron with a blue coating. The sweet iron coating on the mouthpiece stimulates saliva production. When this material reacts with moisture, heat, and air in an oxidation process, the surface rust has a sweet taste, which enhances the acceptance of the bit. Eventually, the blue color fades, but the taste of the surface rust remains.

The anatomical design conforms to the shape of the horse's mouth, creating a gentle and even distribution of pressure. In a double-jointed canon, the bit consists of three parts, with the middle part lying flat on the tongue. This results in more pressure on the tongue compared to a single-jointed bit. The thicker the middle piece, the greater the pressure on the tongue. The thickness of the canon is 14 mm, and the rings are 65 mm.

The needle bit has two bars, also called needles, located in front of the rings. The needles apply pressure to the cheeks, emphasizing the aids and ensuring that the rider cannot pull the bit out of the horse's mouth.
