A polar height wedge is required for the equatorial operation of a telescope that is mounted in a fork or single-arm mount.

The wedge is placed between the tripod and the mount. By adjusting the polar height wedge to the latitude of the observation site, the azimuthal axis is tilted so that it is parallel to the Earth's axis. This way, the polar height wedge converts the azimuthal mount into an equatorial one. As a result, long-exposure photographs are now possible, as there is no field rotation with equatorial mounts.

This polar height wedge is compatible with Celestron telescopes NexStar SE 6/8 and NexStar Evolution 6/8/925.
