Product details
The engagement angle refers to the angle in degrees that a hub freewheel rotates in the idle state before it can convert the crank's rotational movement into forward motion. The smaller the angle, the faster the leg power reaches the ground. However, it is important to know that there are limits to the minimum possible angle, as the reliability of the freewheel system also partly depends on this angle. What makes Ratchet System hubs truly unique is the fact that all teeth of the two discs engage simultaneously every time. In contrast, only some of the pawls engage at the same time in pawl hubs. Additionally, the contact surface in pawl hubs is quite small, while in the Ratchet System, the entire end faces interlock, resulting in much lower point loading. This leads to the legendary reliability of Ratchet System hubs and, when the toothed discs rotate against each other, the distinctive sound! 2 toothed discs, 2 springs, 1 DT Swiss special grease 20g.
