The Hanwag Waxenstein Bio is a mid-cut shoe made from chrome-free tanned leather, offering a comfortable fit. This shoe is suitable for everyday wear, leisure activities, and walks on well-maintained paths, as well as light hiking in flat terrain.

The stiffness of the sole, the drop (how rounded the sole is to allow for good rolling), and the upper construction determine how a model is positioned within the categories. For this reason, you will find the categories A-B-C-D for each model, giving an idea of how stiff the shoe is.

D = very firm and fully crampon-compatible (step-in/automatic crampons).
C = firm and conditionally crampon-compatible (strap-on/semi-automatic crampons).
B = firm support with a solid but flexible sole for trekking and hiking.
A = soft, very well-flexing construction.
