The Hanwag Waxenstein Bio is a mid-cut shoe made from chrome-free tanned leather, offering a comfortable wearing experience. This shoe is suitable for everyday use, leisure activities, and walks on well-maintained paths, as well as light hiking in flat terrain.

The stiffness of the sole, the drop (how rounded the sole is to allow for a good roll), and the shaft construction primarily determine how a model is positioned within the categories. For this reason, each model is categorized as A-B-C-D, giving an idea of the shoe's stiffness.

D = very firm and fully crampon-compatible. C = firm and conditionally crampon-compatible. B = firm support with a solid but flexible sole for trekking and hiking. A = soft, very well-flexing construction.
