Hardness is a general guideline to recommend a wheel to a player based on their weight and skating ability. A player can choose a wheel that is designed for a heavier or lighter skater. This way, the player can improve and maximise their grip and/or skating speed. If he has advanced skating skills, he can squeeze the wheel enough to have grip, or he can look for softer wheels to maximise grip on skating surfaces. Choosing one of these two models can lead to prolonged or premature wear.
