The thin and very light Paso Guide 7.7 mm rope is designed for intensive ice climbing and technical mountaineering. It features the water-repellent Guide UIAA Dry treatment, which protects it from moisture and makes it suitable for daily use in extreme conditions. The water-repellent Guide UIAA Dry treatment is Petzl's most advanced finish for frequent use in wet environments. The difference is particularly noticeable during daily use in extreme conditions (ice climbing, mountaineering). Additionally, the treatment enhances the rope's dirt resistance and abrasion resistance. The Guide UIAA Dry treatment meets the requirements of the UIAA Water Repellent Test standard. Test results show a water absorption of less than 2%. The Guide UIAA Dry treatment of the ropes is carried out in two steps: first, the rope core is treated before the rope is braided. Then, the entire rope is treated to significantly reduce water absorption and the penetration of small particles into the rope. The special treatment stabilizes the fibers and makes the rope more uniform. The rope feels good in hand and ensures consistently good handling. These properties are also achieved in semi-static ropes through special braiding. The middle of the rope is marked to simplify rope maneuvers.
