A bicycle inner tube for high sporty performance should fulfil two conditions as perfectly as possible: 1. keep the air long, stable and puncture-proof. 2. be very light!

Both at the same time - a conventional butyl hose cannot do this. Schwalbe has therefore gone a different way. They have completely dispensed with the traditional black rubber. Instead, Schwalbe, together with BASF's chemical specialists, has developed a completely new special thermoplastic material for bicycle inner tubes. It is called AEROTHAN.
AEROTHAN is a new evolutionary step. From now on Schwalbe can produce high-quality bicycle inner tubes with extremely low weight, with the same air retention and puncture resistance as conventional butyl tubes. Schwalbe calls the new tubes EVO TUBE. The world's first EVO TUBE is now available for mountain bike use.

The weight saving is immense. The EVO-TUBE weighs only one third of a standard Schwalbe hose. Even compared to the Extralight hose you save almost half the weight.
