The new hydraulic 4-piston disc brakes integrate seamlessly into the Deore XT component group lineup. They are designed to enable an aggressive riding style even in the most challenging terrain while providing safety reserves. To achieve this, the new brakes utilize Shimano's I-Spec heat management system, which is implemented in the design of the brake calipers, compatible brake rotors, and corresponding pads.

The Servo-Wave brake lever initially takes up a lot of travel, allowing the pads to be brought to the rotor with minimal lever movement. After the brake pad makes contact, the force translation factor increases rapidly. Thus, a larger portion of the lever travel is still available to enhance braking power and allow for more precise modulation.
