However, metal pads may produce noise when braking. Plastic pads are quieter than metal pads but offer lower performance and have a higher wear rate. The plastic version (Resin) is factory-installed by Shimano on models such as XTR, XT, and LX, while the metal pad is used on the Saint and Hone models.
