The Balaclava 400 is a face protection piece with a simple opening for the eyes. The opening is designed to be pulled down as needed, covering the nose or mouth. Additionally, it provides extra protection for the neck and throat.

The thicker garments are designed as a mid-layer to optimize thermal insulation between the close-fitting functional underwear and the outer layer, which is worn for protection against wind and moisture. It is particularly useful in lower temperatures or during less intense activities.

It is made from knitted terry cloth, with one side being smooth and the other consisting of terry loops. The airy terry loops combined with the crimped structure of the wool create a jersey knit that traps a significant amount of air, resulting in excellent insulation properties. The thicker the layer of air next to the body, the less body heat can escape.
