The use of hookless (straight) rims in the 454 NSW is a key component of "Making You Faster." With hookless, the transition between tire and rim is smoother and more aerodynamic. Zipp's hookless rims feature a more efficient resin distribution, resulting in lighter and stronger wheels. An outdoor test commissioned by Zipp has demonstrated the practical benefits of Zipp TSE. A total system weight of 85 kg, consisting of rider and bike, requires 278 watts with the new 454 NSW using 25 mm tires to maintain a speed of 40 km/h. This represents a savings of 10 watts compared to the previous model, the 454 NSW.
