Compasses
With a compass, you can keep your bearings even in a dead zone. When the battery is empty and the technology fails, the only thing that can often help you out of your predicament is a compass. The most common is the mechanical magnetic compass, which uses the earth's magnetic field to determine the north direction. This compass is preferably used for hiking and long trekking tours. Magnetic compasses are available in different versions. While a map compass is perfectly suited for navigation with the map due to its transparent bottom, a bearing compass is preferably used for the bearing of target points. The mirror compass has a small mirror built in as an additional feature, which makes it much easier to read the direction. Regardless of the respective design, a compass should be robust, handy and waterproof.
