After a lot of googling I found the solution - there is a small hole on the back where you can adjust the tension with an Allen key.

Which type of clip shows are you using? SPD are compatible (at least that was true for me).

Have you tried just looking at the shoes to make sure they fit? It can rub a bit at first.
