Just bought this and realised when I received it that the cassette was not included as I'm a beginner I'm confused should I use the cassete on my bike or should I buy a new one and if so which model ? thanks

Yes, buy a new cassette. Which cassette depends on the components that are built into your bike (Shimano / Campagnolo / etc). It is best to buy the identical one. If there are problems with the gearshift after installation, you will also have to replace the chain.
