The bike (new) makes quite regularly a horrible noise at the point where the brake pad meets the spinny-wheel-thing. Can someone advice whether that's just a problem with the pad/maintenence/fault or something else? Thanks

Put some WD40 on it. Spray a little bit on a paper towel. Hold the paper towel on the fly wheel while turning the pedal with your other hand. It solved it for me.
