PSE soft starter. The starters of the PSE series are the world's first compact soft starters with torque control. This makes the PSE series an excellent choice for pump applications, where water hammer is typically a significant issue. With its compact design and advanced features, the PSE is also an extremely efficient solution for other common applications such as compressors and fans. It has a wide rated operating voltage range of 208–600 V AC and a wide rated control voltage range of 100–250 V, 50/60 Hz. The rated operating current ranges from 18 to 370 A. It operates within a wide ambient temperature range of –25 to +60 °C and features coated circuit boards for reliable operation in harsh environments. An integrated bypass in all sizes helps save energy and reduce installation time. The user-friendly MMS includes an illuminated, language-neutral display and a four-button keypad. Torque control provides excellent pump control, and current limiting is adjustable in the range of 1.5–7 times the rated current. It includes motor overload protection with classes 10A, 10, 20, and 30, as well as motor underload protection to detect pump dry running. Start rotor protection detects jammed pumps, and kick-start functionality helps get jammed pumps or conveyor belts running. An advanced algorithm eliminates the DC component for excellent starting behavior.
