PRODUCT DESCRIPTION Sheet steel control cabinets are often expensive to purchase and have a high weight. Both from the logistical effort and handling, this often leads to additional costs. In EMC-critical applications, sheet steel cabinets are usually indispensable and can be dispensed with in many cases. Switch cabinets of the Fleet series from BOXEXPERT offer a cost-effective alternative made of plastic. The wall-mounted enclosure is made of very lightweight acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymer (ABS for short), which results in a weight saving of about 50% for the same enclosure size. Despite the lower mass, the Fleet enclosure series proves to be a robust alternative and has an impact resistance of IK08. ABS plastic has a high resistance to alkali, oils and salts. In contrast to metal enclosures, the Fleet series has the advantage of being resistant to corrosive loads without the need for further coating of the enclosure surface. PUR SEALING Especially the use in outdoor applications requires an effective sealing of the electronic components against external influences. The plastic housings of the Fleet series have a foamed-in seal made of polyurethane (PU for short). The PU seal is low-wear and robust against weathering and aging. The polyurethane also proves resilient and resistant to frequent operation of the control cabinet door.
