Circuit breakers from the FAZ series are available in 6 kA and 10 kA ratings. They include single, double, and triple pole miniature circuit breakers with thermal and magnetic tripping. These miniature circuit breakers are designed for DIN rail mounting and are available with three tripping characteristics. Optional switch-off capacity is available according to the characteristic: 6 kA for the low-cost series or 10 kA for full ratings.

They feature a double-break contact system with an internal spark quenching chamber and a storing spring mechanism with free release. There is a clear indication of contact position via a frontal switch lever, and the terminals have a large capacity, accommodating sizes from 0.75 to 16 mm².

These circuit breakers are compatible with DIN rails in accordance with EN 50 022/DIN 46277-3 and comply with design regulations B, C, and S according to the new international standard IEC 898, BS/EN 60-898.

Curve B ensures sort-for instantaneous tripping at currents 3 to 5 times the nominal value, safeguarding circuits with moderate inrush currents, such as incandescent lamps, heating loads, households, and smaller buildings. Curve C provides immediate release at currents 5 to 10 times the rated value, suitable for circuits with larger inrush currents, such as industrial plants, larger buildings, motors, and fluorescent lamps, where faster tripping is required to prevent unwanted shutdowns.

Curve S has a short-circuit response threshold from 13 to 17 times the rated current and an overload threshold from 1.05 to 1.3 times the rated current, making it ideally suited for the protection of control circuits where very large inrush currents are expected, such as transformers.
