The Fibaro RGBW module allows for the retrofitting of a standard electrical installation to a Z-Wave-based system for controlling four colored LED strips. The white light channel, in addition to the RGB channels, enables the selection of different shades. The device is placed in a wall box directly behind the switch. The switch is no longer directly operated by the consumer but instead sends a control signal to the Fibaro device, which is then controlled by the consumer. The module works with any switch series and any dimmer switch for color LEDs, provided there is enough space in the installation box. In large 65 mm deep boxes, installation should generally be possible without issues. In smaller boxes, the feasibility depends on the required depth of the switch and the space needed for any electrical connectors that may be present in the box. Furthermore, the RGBW module is designed for a three-wire system; therefore, a neutral wire must be present for installation.
