There are numerous applications that require the use of special blind rivet connections. For this purpose, GESIPA has developed several models that meet these specific requirements. Expandable blind rivets are needed when soft or porous materials such as wood, hardboard, fiberglass, or gypsum boards need to be joined with high clamping force. During the setting process, the rivet mandrel falls out of the hollow rivet, and on the closing head side, the mandrel splits the hollow rivet into four parts. These then grip into the material. Typical areas of application include the assembly of plastic and wooden elements, caravan construction, and the fastening of interior linings.
