The optical window and door contact enables the automatic lowering of heating temperature through a wirelessly connected electronic radiator thermostat during ventilation. Installing this window and door contact, which operates with an infrared sensor, in your smart home is particularly easy, as no triggering magnet needs to be mounted – the sensor detects an open window sash optically. In conjunction with the Homematic IP radiator thermostat, it ensures automatic temperature reduction, thus saving heating energy.

The integrated infrared light barrier detects the opening and closing of windows. Installation is done using adhesive strips or screws. The battery life typically lasts for 2 years. The contact is individually customizable and comes with brown and white cover caps.

It is compatible with the Homematic IP Access Point and the Smart Home Central CCU3. Operation requires connection to one of the following solutions: Homematic IP Access Point with a free smartphone app and free cloud service or Smart Home Central CCU3 with a local user interface WebUI. Wireless modules for Raspberry Pi and partner solutions from third-party providers are also available.

Additional features when operating via the Smart Home Central CCU3 include freely configurable action profiles in direct links with Homematic IP actuators and adjustable intervals for status messages. Note: The CCU2 central is not supported.

Application examples: If a window is forcibly opened, a push notification is sent to the smartphone as well as an alarm via the alarm siren. In conjunction with the Homematic IP radiator thermostat, the room temperature is automatically lowered during ventilation. When leaving the house, it can be quickly checked whether all windows and doors in the smart home are closed.
