Application: For maintenance and cleaning work on buildings. Special regulations apply to chimneys regarding the fastening and protection of the back side. Regardless of the climbing height, either back protection or climbing protection can be used as fall protection (combination not allowed, as back protection hinders the rescue of individuals). The necessity for fall protection depends on the risk analysis (e.g., total height, height of the person, etc.) of the respective permanently installed ladder system; proof of the load-bearing capacity of the substrate must be provided for each construction project by a responsible structural engineer. The vertical intersection point of consecutive ladder sections must be at least 1,680 mm. At unsecured exit points, guardrails are required on both sides of the ladder or up to the exit surface. The distance at the exit must not exceed 75 mm. Approach measurement: distance from the entry to the first rung 100 to 400 mm. For forward exits, the top rung must be level with the exit surface. For permanently installed ladders with climbing protection, the free area in front of the ladder must be at least 800 x 800 mm. The distance between the permanently installed ladder system and the guardrail must not exceed 180 mm. The connection to the climbing protection must be made and released from a safe location. A safe location is, for example, a platform with guardrails and a secure access point. To ensure that the side rails can be easily reached, the distance to adjacent parts around the side rails must be at least 75 mm (except for components that belong to the permanently installed ladder system). The maximum height of individual ladder sections is 6.0 m.
