The Operating Principle

Nord-Lock screw locking systems consist of a pair of wedge locking washers with opposing wedge surfaces that interlock. This creates a wedging effect that prevents the screw from loosening. The shape of the wedge surfaces is designed so that the angle "a" is always greater than the thread pitch "ss." When tightening the bolted connection, the radial ribs form-fit into the counter surface.
