I would describe myself as a professional DIYer and bought the cordless screwdriver to replace a 25-year-old Hilti screwdriver. In terms of performance, the Makita is clearly stronger, which is not surprising given the difference in generations. The weight is practically identical, but the Makita feels heavier.
The cordless screwdriver is suitable for a carpenter. For a do-it-yourselfer who wants to screw bigger things, 10 - 15 cm screws and longer without pre-drilling, the machine is ideal. Even if he also has a smaller and lighter second cordless screwdriver. For the "normal" do-it-yourselfer, the machine is perhaps rather oversized. Especially the weight of the machine is noticeable if you want to work with it for a longer period of time.
For the do-it-yourselfer who just wants to quickly screw together an Ikea frame, it is oversized.
About the cordless screwdriver itself:
+ Smallest" and cheapest cordless screwdriver from Makita with full metal gearbox (promises me longevity).
+ Newer Makita model already with brushless motor (lower maintenance and more power/battery efficient)
+ Contrary to many voices on the net, my drill chuck runs smoothly and quietly.
+Makita is said to be less prone to repair than other brands and to offer long spare parts.
+ I consider Makita, along with Hilti and Maffel (both of which are unaffordable for my budget), to be among the highest quality machines.
- The LED light is mostly useless, bits lie in the shadow of the drill chuck, it is annoying when it blinds you (but can be taped off).
- The supposedly pleasant partial rubber sheathing of the housing remains questionable for me, it remains to be seen whether this will detach itself from the plastic at some point, or is easily torn off when working in tight places with sharp edges. (I have already seen such things).
-- Negative, for the layman, is the great confusing chaos of the various Makita cordless screwdrivers, which one is for what? What do all the abbreviations and symbols mean? What do I need?
-- Very negative, here at Galaxus, that they don't tell me in the Internet shop that this is a grey import and that I can therefore not make use of the free warranty extension that Makita offers on their Swiss site. Instead, they want to sell me a warranty extension in the shop.
+On the positive side, however, when I found this out during a phone call to the customer service, they gave me the 3-year warranty of their own accord.
