Aluminum-plastic composite pipes are already being used in many industries as a replacement for conventional plastic or galvanized steel pipes due to their superior mechanical and chemical properties. Laser beam welding can achieve better results in terms of quality and productivity of the manufacturing process compared to traditional welding methods. This work tests an imaging method for process monitoring during high-speed welding of thin-walled aluminum pipes. With regard to future applications, the system is evaluated for use in high-speed welding, with particular attention to temporal and spatial resolution. Image information is identified that allows for clear conclusions about the process state and component properties.
