Product details
The power supply for the internal electronics is typically provided at the fieldbus coupler. The supply for the field is provided galvanically isolated, either through the power supply module at the bus coupler or via a separate potential supply module. This separation allows for independent power supply of sensors and actuators. The engagement of I/O modules automatically leads to the forwarding of the supply voltages (system supply DC 5 V via the data contacts and field supply via the optionally available power contacts). Power supply modules with diagnostics also enable supply monitoring. This ensures a flexible, application-specific power setup for a station. The power supply for the electronics is limited to a maximum value, which depends on the fieldbus coupler used. If the total internal current consumption of all I/O modules exceeds this value, an additional system power supply module is necessary. Additionally, the supply for the field must not exceed 10 A. Different potential supply modules, however, allow for re-supply, the formation of potential groups, and thus the implementation of emergency stop concepts. Freedom from feedback in safety-related applications: To easily and cost-effectively shut down entire groups of actuators centrally and safely, the power supply to the actuator can be switched off using a safety switching device. This can be done for each actuator individually or by de-energizing the supply of the control outputs grouped together. It must be demonstrated that in the event of a fault, even with the control voltage switched off, there are no feedback effects from other current or energy circuits, thus ensuring that the defined characteristics of the safety function (logic and timing behavior) remain unchanged.
