Can't load my drive app and phone won't connect.... Is this a general problem or have I ignored something?

This is a general problem with the connection between smartphone and device using MyDrive EU on Android.
It has helped me several times to completely delete the app on the smartphone and reset the TomTom device to factory settings. After that, the connection works perfectly and, for example, traffic jam data is displayed on the device.
