I got one of these things. I made sure to use this one with a range of 50 metres. I put it in the chicken that was in the grill, closed the lid. 10 metres into the house and the connection was gone and the message told me to get closer. What is this?

I have the wooden part right next to the barbecue - it sticks well because it's magnetic - and I can only confirm the experience that the connection ends after a maximum of 10 metres. Now the iPhone is on the windowsill in the kitchen. Otherwise, I am quite satisfied with the Meater.
