The field railway locomotive corresponds to a type that was manufactured by the Baden company Gmeinder from the mid-twenties onwards. The locomotive was produced in large quantities until the fifties and is still in use today in some cases due to its robustness. The prototype of the field railway locomotive is designated as "Gmeinder 15/18" according to its horsepower (15 HP continuous power / 18 HP short-term power) and is powered by a diesel engine with a three-speed transmission and chain drive, achieving a maximum speed of 12 km/h. The gauge is 600 mm. The locomotive models are available, like the prototype, in versions with open and closed cabs. The small locomotives are driven by a 3-volt micro precision motor with gear reduction for realistic slow operation and strong pulling power. An integrated magnet increases the pressure of the locomotive on the metal-supported narrow-gauge tracks, ensuring reliable current pickup from the rails and smooth slow operation. The locomotives have a coupling pin on the back of the cab for realistic train formation, as well as a magnetic coupling for operation with trolleys and cars from the Busch mining railway range. Like the original, the field railway locomotive can navigate the smallest track radii (down to 100 mm). Due to its compact design and small space requirement, it can also be very well used for diorama creation and to complement existing model railway systems.
