Product details
Small but mighty! The automobile manufacturer Land Rover has been producing the vehicle of the same name since 1948, with its original development (1947) initially benefiting solely civil use in agriculture. The first three model series were simply designated Series I, II, and III. It was only with the fourth series (from 1983) that the names One Ten (110-inch wheelbase) and Ninety (90) were introduced. Typical for Land Rover are the numbers in the model names, which indicate the wheelbases (90, 110, 130 inches) of the vehicles, even if rounded figures are sometimes used. Thus, the correct designation should actually be 93, as the axle length measures 93 inches (for the 130 model, for example, it is 127 inches). The name "Ninety" was retained by the small Defender until its renaming in September 1990. After the introduction of the "Discovery" series in 1990, differentiation became necessary, and the Land Rover models were designated as "Defender." Also new is that for the first time in 35 years, the solid axles are mounted on coil springs instead of leaf springs. Additionally, the previously split windshield is replaced by a single piece of glass, and the fenders receive a plastic widening. Originally developed for civil use, the vehicle has often been employed in rugged expeditions due to its robustness, so it is no surprise that the Defender can still be found in many crisis areas today. It has become indispensable for various aid organizations and the military. Particularly in private sectors, the robust Land Rover is highly valued as an off-road vehicle. The bush model is the Defender 90 County Station Wagon (CSW), which now operates as a small powerhouse in challenging HO model landscapes, navigating over rough terrain. Sharp contours and detailed features transform the rough, angular block into a true gem.
