The Citroën DS is a full-size sedan from the French manufacturer Citroën with front-wheel drive and a mid-size front engine, which was produced from 1955 - 1975 and exported to many countries. The abbreviation DS is a pun on the French word déesse (goddess or deity). The Citroën DS set new standards for mass-produced cars in ride quality, handling and braking. Particular mention should be made here of the design by Flaminio Bertoni and André Lefèbvre and the hydropneumatic, self-levelling suspension and disc brakes developed by Paul Magès, which were used for the first time in such a vehicle.
