Product details

The Panavia 200 Tornado is a twin-engine, two-seat multirole combat aircraft with variable-sweep wings, designed and developed by the international defense company Panavia Aircraft GmbH based in Munich. Panavia was established on March 26, 1969, through a multinational consortium that currently includes the British BAE Systems plc, the German Airbus Defence & Space, and the Italian Leonardo S.p.A. The new MRCA (Multi-Role Combat Aircraft) was intended for use in both conventional and nuclear air strikes, air reconnaissance, and naval warfare, meeting high demands such as extreme low-level flying, all-weather capability, high weapon precision, strong self-protection, and day/night operations.

The aircraft Tornado GR1 ZA447/EA, used in the first Gulf War and flown by Squadron Leader Pete Batson and Wing Commander Mike Heath, earned the nickname 'MiG Eater' during a successful mission against the Iraqi air force base Al Asad on January 17, 1991. In addition to the planned destruction of the runways with cluster bombs, an Iraqi Air Force aircraft that was landing was eliminated. It was apparently of secondary importance that the aircraft was more likely a Mirage than a MiG when the nickname was assigned.

This model is in the RAF version for desert operations and features MiG Eater markings, with 527 parts, 2 minifigures, printed blocks, and movable elements. Model dimensions (LxWxH): 36 x 28 x 13 cm.
