Product details

The series 50.40 belongs to the new steam locomotives of the German Reichsbahn. From 1956 to 1960, 88 machines were built at the locomotive factory Karl Marx in Babelsberg. The decommissioning began as early as 1975 and was completed by 1980. With the exception of 50 4073, which served as a heating locomotive in Loitz and Demmin, all machines of this series were scrapped. In 1991, the Bavarian Railway Museum in Nördlingen acquired the 50 4073, which was at that time ready for scrapping. Over 30 years later, 50 4073 can now be admired in full operation again. We accompanied the re-commissioning of the locomotive in Meiningen and its first journeys. Experience the new locomotive of the Reichsbahn in its second life. In 58 minutes, witness the story of the last representative of a steam locomotive series.
