The medium-lift transport and attack helicopter Chinook was developed for the U.S. Army during the 1960s. In newer versions, it is also used by the armed forces of many other countries. The basic model has been modernized for U.S. Army special forces and features significantly larger fuel tanks as a long-range version. The MH-47 is equipped with advanced night vision devices and satellite navigation systems, and it has effective defensive armament through the installation of various machine guns.
