Advent Calendar "Freiberg"
The mountain town of Freiberg plays a significant role in the history of Saxony. Silver mining brought wealth and power to the rulers of medieval Saxony. The Freiberg Cathedral of St. Mary is a symbol of medieval power. The cathedral is the landmark of the small town in the Ore Mountains. It is famous for its Golden Portal, the large and small Silbermann organ, as well as the miner's and tulip pulpit. In 2014, the Freiberg Cathedral celebrated a significant anniversary: 300 years of the Great Silbermann Organ.
Behind the little windows of our Advent calendar are Christmas motifs from the Ore Mountains. The windows blend well with the architectural shapes, and the motif of the Freiberg Cathedral at the Untermarkt retains its beauty even when all the little windows are opened.
