In a neighborhood competition, exactly two players face off in Beer and Bread. As the leaders of a small village, they compete over six years for the tastiest beer and the crispiest bread. The players share fields and ingredients, but the production actions determine victory or defeat. Only those who create a balanced ratio of beer and bread will succeed, as only the less profitable product is scored.

A game of Beer and Bread lasts for six rounds, alternating between fruitful and dry years. In each year, fields are first equipped with ingredient markers, followed by the distribution of cards. During the action phase, players take turns playing cards. Each card has three sections: harvesting and storage, production and sales, and expansion and cleaning. However, only one of the actions can be used when playing a card. Players must carefully consider which action they want to use next. The fruitful years are particularly challenging, as the card hands are swapped after each turn.
