Finally, a contemporary replacement for the very popular and once widely used BR 78 is here in the form of a new design from PIKO – and with it, the first steam locomotive in the Expert product line. The model raises the established standard of the Expert range even higher. Almost all piping is executed as free-standing, and the cab, water boxes, and smoke chamber feature finely detailed reproductions of the rivet heads. The wheelset stars and the control system have been crafted with great delicacy thanks to the materials used. Excellent driving characteristics are ensured by the five-pole PIKO motor with flywheel. Additional weights in the boiler and two traction tires provide high pulling power. Thanks to the modern PluX22 interface, retrofitting a decoder is incredibly easy. A speaker and smoke unit can also be added with minimal effort. The direction-dependent LED lighting creates an authentic operating atmosphere.
