House geese are very social, intelligent animals with a good memory. They remember experiences with people and other animals for a long time. If a stranger enters the yard, the geese notice it immediately. Of course, they don't bark, but they make their presence known with loud honking and can give quite a pinch with their beaks. Unlike dogs, however, they cannot be bought with food. For this reason, some farmers prefer to keep geese instead of getting a guard dog.
