A differential compensates for the difference in wheel speeds when turning. In a ball differential, this is achieved through metal balls that are enclosed between two pressure plates. Thus, even if one wheel leaves the ground, the power is transferred to the wheel that remains on the ground due to friction. The ball differential therefore provides more traction for your model.
