Scattered among the grassy hills of Hobbiton like a bag full of lost coins, the round doors of the many dozens of hobbit holes shine in bright, summery colors, each home to a hobbit or a family of little people.

As diverse as the rosy-cheeked hobbits themselves, each smial, as the hobbit holes are called, reflects the unique personality of its inhabitant and nestles into the slope, surrounded by a sea of lush green.

Ripe red apples hang thickly between the branches of the trees at number 13, framing the pretty lemon-yellow door of the home of Bilbo and Frodo's cousins, the Sackville-Bagginses. Yet despite the charm and abundance of their house, the grumpy Lobelia and Otho have eyes only for Bag End and gaze enviously from their window at the hill.
