We warmly welcome Gritty Jackson Dry Ace Selvage to our collection of selvedge jeans. Gritty Jackson is our take on a regular, straight fit, possibly the most versatile and iconic there is. It was only natural to pair it with the Dry Ace Selvage fabric – one of our favorite selvedge materials.

The Dry Ace Selvage is a beautiful and robust 14.2 oz redcast denim. It’s woven by none other than Shinya Mills in Okayama, Japan. The warp threads have been immersed-dyed 20 times in pure indigo, giving the denim its rich dark blue-red hue. The naturally irregular threads, woven under low tension, have created a perfectly thick and uneven surface, making this fabric the perfect place where imperfection turns into perfection. Shinya Mills, being exceptionally skilled in the art of denim, recreated the Dry Ace Selvage fabric by analyzing the denim from an old 50s pair of jeans. You heard that right, recreating dry denim from a washed, worn, and torn pair – that’s some reverse engineering!

Now, this is just the starting point from which the Gritty Jackson Dry Ace Selvage will evolve. We love the Dry Ace in its dry state – but in its worn state – washed or unwashed – it’s wonderfully beautiful. Due to its redcast hue, it evolves into a light blue shade, its uneven structure creates a salt and pepper pattern, and where the abrasions become most prominent, wear will create well-defined twill lines.
